It has been long since social sciences careers have been considered as the last hope for low achievers and nothing more in India. It has become one of the most important fields of learning producing most eminent scholars of the world from extra ordinary institutions such as JNU. In India there has been an academic trend which supports the funding on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths) sciences. This academic imbalance have to be addressed seriously as this country’s rich heritage of producing  luminaries in social sciences such as Chanakya have to be sustained. As a student of political science my initial days were unstable in a society with gives prime importance and respect to science related and professional courses. But later days proved that much more are possible from the scope of my learning and that acknowledgement made me proud to say that I am a social science student.

Pragmatic approach to all problems of mankind can be figured through it. Knowing the roots of culture and civilization, the timeline of its development, and the nature and scope of political and economic systems that governs us indeed can help us lead a better life. Any sphere of human life is not isolated and the application of all forms of scientific study into the lives of man is done through social science research. Understanding social behavior and social development is serves as the starting point of all studies. This area of study reveals the importance of mutual dependence which binds together the people of the world with various cultural diversities. Overall it helps the people develop the  ability to make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good. Social scientists are often equipped with much more analytical and communication skills to convey an idea to the common public.

In India proper awareness campaigns have to be arranged for parents and students regarding the importance and possibilities of choosing social sciences careers as a career option. The habit of flocking every student into the steaming machine of NEET and JEE coaching centers without their proper willingness has to have an alternative to reduce the in effectivity and unemployability of the most important resource that  India have – The youth. Post matric career guidance centers have to be set up in every school which helps students to find their real path of life. Government in both Union and state level should also focus on funding in higher education in social sciences and create more job opportunities for graduates in such disciplines. Academic world should focus in setting up discussion forums and regional and national co operations across the nation for fueling academics. Organizations such as UGC and ICSSR should be funded and focused as vital for the upliftment of the academic world.
